Client Goal

Correct failing brick and insulation above a covered entry and rebuild the facade to match the original construction.

Challenge

Carefully removing and reusing existing brick where possible, matching materials and detailing for a Saskatchewan climate, and protecting facility staff throughout.

Approach

Peeled back the roof cap flashing and parapet for access, carefully removed brick and saved it for reuse, replaced damaged rigid insulation to match the existing thickness, tied the reinstated brick to the backing wall with new masonry ties, and painted the rebuilt section to match.

Outcome

A facade rebuilt plumb and straight to the original lintel line — indistinguishable from the original construction.

Scope of Work

  • Peel-back and removal of roof cap flashing and parapet for access
  • Careful removal of brick, saved for reuse, with new brick to match where broken
  • Replacement of damaged rigid insulation to match existing thickness
  • New masonry ties connecting reinstated brick to the backing wall
  • Hoarding and protection for facility staff
  • Reinstated facade plumb and straight to the steel lintel, then painted to match
